The site will require a retaining wall to make room for the building pads. Per the LAMC (Los Angeles Municipal Code), we are allowed two 10’ walls nearly stacked on top of one another, for a total height of 20’ provided that the top 10’ portion of the wall is stepped back the minimum of 3’ from the bottom 10’.
Ten caissons will support the grade beam which in turn will tie the rear (upper) retaining wall to the front (lower) retaining wall. Solider piles composed of vertically placed W 10×45 steel i-beams will support the side retaining walls.
